Philippine Nedo Kagyu Bodhi Dharma Foundation, also known as Phil Nedo Foundation is a non-stock, non-profit Buddhist Institution duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Philippine Government. The organization promotes the Buddha’s teachings and practices of Mahayana and Vajrayana path, particularly the Karma Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Its main aim is to develop loving kindness, compassion and wisdom among all beings which leads to the ability to liberate oneself and others from suffering and attain ultimate happiness. It was founded in 1995 by Ven. Lama Choyeng Dhundrup.
In 2004, Ven Lama Choyeng offered the organization to Ven. Nedo Kuchung Rinpoche, hence the organization’s name.
PhilNedo Foundation has a spiritual center located at 540 Mag. Abad St, Bacood, Sta Mesa. The Center reflects/embodies authentic Tibetan design in its structure and practices. Ven. Nedo Kuchung Rinpoche and Lama Choyeng appointed Lama Pema Techog as the lead resident Buddhist monk.
The center regularly holds monthly puja (spiritual service) in Tibetan language for its deities’ special days such as White Tara, Green Tara, Guru Rinpoche, Dakini Day and Mahakala. On full moon day, Dorje Sempa tsok puja is celebrated. There is also a practice for Chenrezig, Medicine Buddha and Amitayu puja. The foundational practice of Ngondro is also emphasized.
During the auspicious month of Sagadawa (Buddha month), special pujas are celebrated to commemorate Buddha’s birthday, Buddha’s enlightenment day and Mahapari-nirvana day of Buddha Sakyamuni.
The Center also holds annual spiritual retreats, this may be a practice of fasting retreat of Nyung-Ne or Nye-Ne, Phowa, Dorje Sempa and Tara. Philippine delegates also celebrate yearly pilgrimage to Buddha’s place of enlightenment in Bodhgaya, India and participate in the 7-days Kagyu Monlam prayers. Charity giving to less privileged members and senior citizens of the community are also a regular occurrence. The resident Buddhist monks also perform special prayers for the dearly departed.
Attending a spiritual service in the Tibetan language is a unique experience which brings joy and peace to the core of a person’s being. All are welcome to attend.
Phil Nedo Foundation has an on-going project namely the Merit Field in Conchu Road, Trece Martires, Cavite. This has been an aspiration of Ven. Nedo Kuchung Rinpoche, Ven. Lama Choyeng Dhundrup and Lama Pema Techog to build a holy Stupa in the Philippines. A stupa is a sacred Buddhist monument to commemorate the enlightened body, speech and mind of the Buddha.
